Gastric examination at SMDC – Early detection prevents suffering
Gastric disorders, such as gastric ulcers or inflammation of the stomach lining, are common in horses, especially those in training or prone to stress. The symptoms are often subtle but can lead to reduced performance, resistance, weight loss, or even colic.
At SMDC, we perform a gastroscopy to directly assess the stomach lining. Using an extra-long flexible camera, we can visualize the entire stomach and the beginning of the small intestine. This allows us to make an accurate diagnosis and provide targeted treatment and feeding advice.
Our approach combines medical treatment with practical guidance on nutrition, training, and management, ensuring that recovery is not only fast but also sustainable.
Suspect your horse has gastric problems? Don’t wait too long. Early detection and a targeted approach make all the difference.
