Chewing difficulties, weight loss, excessive salivation, or an unsteady contact with the bit may indicate dental problems.
Difficulty or resistance when bending the neck may indicate problems. Also watch for poor muscle development or head shaking.
Heart problems can lead to reduced performance, fatigue, and difficulty breathing.
Lameness is often caused by an underlying orthopedic problem, which leads to overload and compensation.
Coughing, mucus, or reduced fitness may indicate respiratory problems.

ISELP offers a series of training modules for veterinarians focused on anatomical regions of the horse. Each session provides instruction on the integration of (advanced) diagnostic techniques and imaging in the evaluation of musculoskeletal pathology that causes lameness.
There are eight modules, each providing a thorough overview of specific anatomical regions through lectures and illustrative case material. Four modules are offered annually in the United States and four in Europe.
