Residency ECVSMR

The Sporthorse Medical Diagnostic Centre (SMDC) is recognized as a training location for the European College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ECVSMR). This European specialist college is dedicated to advancing veterinary expertise in sports medicine and rehabilitation for horses and companion animals. ECVSMR specialists combine in-depth knowledge of exercise physiology, orthopedics, internal medicine, training, and rehabilitation into a high-quality, scientifically based care concept.

Board certificaton

A residency is an intensive, multi-year training program (minimum of three years) for veterinarians who wish to specialize in this field. During the residency at SMDC, the candidate is trained under the supervision of certified ECVSMR diplomates to become a board certified specialist.

The program includes clinical work, theoretical training, scientific research, and teaching responsibilities. Participation in international conferences, publication of scientific articles, and active involvement in specialist working groups are also part of the residency.

The resident is involved in the complete care pathway of the sport horse: from diagnosis to treatment, from rehabilitation to prevention. Through this broad and in-depth experience, the residency program at SMDC provides an excellent foundation for obtaining the ECVSMR diploma and for a career at the highest level of equine sports medicine.
