We combine treatments and specialists

At SMDC, we believe that effective treatment goes beyond addressing symptoms alone. A well-founded treatment plan starts with an accurate diagnosis and is tailored to the individual needs of the horse.

Our approach is multimodal and multidisciplinary, meaning that we combine different treatment methods and collaborate with specialists, physiotherapists, dentists, and farriers to make the recovery process as efficient and successful as possible.

Multimodal and multidisciplinary – a holistic approach

Combination of therapies for maximum effect
An injury or condition often affects multiple regions of the body. That is why at SMDC we combine different treatment techniques, such as:

  • (Ultrasound-guided) injections: For precision treatments delivered directly to the affected area.
  • Orthobiologics: The use of the body’s own substances (such as PRP, A2M, stem cells, and IRAP) to promote healing.
  • Equine physiotherapy: For mobilization, pain reduction, and support during rehabilitation.
  • Farriery: Orthopedic shoeing or other adjustments to optimize the load on the musculoskeletal system.
  • Dentistry: A balanced set of teeth contributes to correct body posture and helps prevent secondary problems.
  • Internal sports medicine: Treating disorders of the internal organs.

Collaboration between specialists
Our veterinarians, physiotherapists, farriers, and dentists work closely together to create an integrated treatment plan. By combining our broad expertise, we can not only address the root cause of a problem but also minimize secondary strain and compensation issues.

Clear communication is essential

A clear and well-documented treatment plan is essential for a successful recovery. That is why at SMDC:

  • Every step of the treatment plan documented in a detailed report.
  • The owner and the referring veterinarian (if applicable) are fully informed about the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment plan, and expected recovery period.

At SMDC, we combine modern techniques, specialist knowledge, and an integrated approach to give every horse the best possible chance of recovery.
