DENOIX Jean-Marie

Circle-EnvA – France

DR PROF, DVM, PhD, Agrégé, Assoc. LA-ACVDI, Diplomate ACVSMR, ISELP-certified

Professor Jean-Marie Denoix is a renowned veterinarian, equine anatomist, and one of the world’s leading experts in equine locomotor pathology. He has made significant contributions to the field of equine sports medicine, particularly through his expertise in equine biomechanics, diagnostic imaging, and musculoskeletal disorders.

Professor Denoix earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in France and subsequently developed a specialization in equine locomotor pathology, focusing on diagnostic imaging techniques. Over the years, he has gained international recognition for his work on equine biomechanics and the pathology of the musculoskeletal system. He is particularly known for his research and pioneering use of advanced imaging techniques such as ultrasonography, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), and X-ray to diagnose and treat equine athletes.

Professor Denoix is a professor at the National Veterinary School of Alfort (École Nationale Vétérinaire d’Alfort) in France, where he has played a pivotal role in advancing equine locomotor pathology. As the director of the CIRALE (Centre d’Imagerie et de Recherche sur les Affections Locomotrices Equines), a leading equine research and diagnostic center in France, CIRALE has become one of the world’s foremost centers for studying equine lameness and locomotor disorders.

Jean-Marie Denoix has published extensively in scientific journals and has authored or co-authored numerous books on equine locomotor anatomy, pathology, and biomechanics. His work has been essential in improving the understanding of equine limb function, particularly regarding how injuries occur in equine athletes, such as racehorses and sport horses. His research has led to the development of better diagnostic tools, treatment methods, and injury prevention strategies.

In addition to his academic work, Professor Denoix has traveled widely to lecture and teach internationally, sharing his knowledge with veterinarians, students, and equine professionals. He is also highly regarded for his practical contributions to improving equine health and performance in sports.
