Sporthorse Medical Diagnostic Centre joins the Altano Group

International group of renowned horse clinics in the Netherlands and Germany

Heesch, 4 October 2019 – The Sporthorse Medical Diagnostic Centre (SMDC) in Heesch has been affiliated with the Altano Group since October 1st. With this connection, the international group of renowned horse clinics is established with twelve branches in Germany and one in the Netherlands. The objective of the group is to create an outstanding international specialist network and to set a new veterinary standard in equine medicine.

The SMDC was established in 2015 by Dr. Erik Bergman and Dr. Frans van Toor, both internationally recognized specialists (ISELP) in the field of orthopedics. Erik Bergman regarding the new step: “In recent years, the SMDC has grown into a multidisciplinary center that is completely focused on sport horse management (prevention) and orthopedic problems. The fifteen-strong team is committed to the unique “SMDC experience”: attention to client and patient, striving for a diagnosis with a tailor-made (multidisciplinary) treatment plan in combination with optimal aftercare. With the affiliation with the Altano Group, we continue to innovate in the orthopedics of sporthorses and we can collaborate with other specialist’ knowledge and skills. The SMDC will continue to function independently within the Altano group. The current service remains guaranteed and this step allows the team to offer even better care for the horses and their owners.”

For us as a clinic, this means that we have expanded our network with very prominent specialists in various fields of equine medicine.
