Frans van Toor, DVM

Dr Frans van Toor graduated from the University of Utrecht in 1989. Directly after graduating, he began working at the Veterinary Clinic Bodegraven in Bodegraven, The Netherlands. In 1990, Dr. van Toor started working at the equine veterinary clinic “de Raaphorst”, Wassenaar, The Netherlands. At this clinic, under the supervision of Dr. Hans van Schie, Dr. van Toor began specializing in equine orthopedics. At this renowned clinic the UTC scan (Ultrasound Tissue Characterization) technique was developed. This imaging technique allows examination of tendons and ligaments in great detail as well as examination of the quality and loading ability.
In 2002, Dr. van Toor became owner of the equine veterinary clinic “de Raaphorst” and in 2006, he became co-founder of the VetCT, offering CT in horses, in Lienden, The Netherlands.
In 2011, Dr van Toor became ISELP certified. Currently Dr. van Toor is a ACVSMR resident ( American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation). Dr. van Toor speaks on a regular basis at international conferences and events.
In 2015, Dr. van Toor started with Dr. Bergman, the Sporthorse Medical Diagnostic Centre (SMDC) which is the centre of excellence for sport horses where Dr. van Toor examins and treat patients daily.
