This includes assessing pulse, respiration, mucous membrane color, and capillary refill time, along with careful cardiac auscultation to detect murmurs or arrhythmias. These findings determine whether further diagnostic tests are needed. The examination is performed by a European specialist (Diplomate ECVSMR) and may include several components.   <\/p><h6>ECG (Electrocardiogram) at rest and during exercise<\/h6><p>An ECG (or <strong>electrocardiogram<\/strong>) is a non-invasive test used to detect cardiac rhythm abnormalities at rest and during exercise. Electrodes are placed on the horse\u2019s skin to record the electrical activity of the heart. In specific cases, a 24-hour recording may be required to determine how frequently abnormalities occur within a day; this is known as a Holter analysis.   <\/p><h6>Echocardiography<\/h6><p>Echocardiography (or \u201cheart scan\u201d) is one of the most important techniques for visualizing the horse\u2019s heart. This specialized form of ultrasound allows for a precise evaluation of the heart\u2019s size, shape, and function, as well as its valves. Using our state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment, we can accurately assess the following aspects:  <\/p><ul><li>Cardiac structures (such as ventricles, atria, and heart valves)<\/li><li>Contractile strength and pumping function<\/li><li>Valve insufficiencies and leakages<\/li><li>Abnormalities in blood flow (using Doppler technology)<\/li><li>Thickening or enlargement of the heart muscles<\/li><li>Pericardial effusion or other structural abnormalities<\/li><\/ul><h6>Exercise testing<\/h6><p>If needed, an exercise test can be performed to evaluate the functional impact of the findings. During this test, various parameters are recorded before, during, and after exercise to monitor the horse\u2019s endurance. In some cases, training at home may also be guided through heart rate monitoring.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b04dd05 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b04dd05\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>Same-day results available<\/h2><p>Our specialists combine the results of the cardiac examination with a thorough clinical assessment, training history, information about the horse\u2019s goals, and any additional diagnostic findings.
